Website Move F.A.Q.s
Website Move FAQ
We are moving Star Action Figures to a new website platform.
The new site is being built to make the store easier to use, with improved search, better navigation, clearer filtering and new features that we cannot properly offer on the current website.
Why are you moving website?
The current website has served us well, but it is now limiting what we can do.
The new website will allow us to improve the way products are found, filtered and displayed. It will also allow us to add new features, including a proper loyalty scheme, improved customer accounts and better control over pre-orders.
Will my existing orders still be safe?
Yes. Existing orders and pre-orders are not being cancelled because of the website move.
If you already have an order with us, it will still be processed as normal. They will be able to view soon at www.staractionfigures.com
Will my pre-orders move over to the new website?
Your existing pre-orders will remain active and will still be fulfilled as normal.
Outstanding pre-orders will remain on the existing website, which will move to www.staractionfigures.com. This will allow you to continue keeping track of any orders placed before the move. THIS WILL APPEAR WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. Site will show an error message until it is switched.
No new orders will be taken on the old website. All new orders will need to be placed on the new website at www.staractionfigures.co.uk.
Your order history will not appear on the new website. This does not mean your order has been lost or cancelled. We will still have access to the order details we need, and all existing orders will remain active.
Will I need to create a new customer account?
Your account login details should move over to the new website.
Once the new site is live, you should be able to log in using your existing account details. If you have any issues logging in, please contact us and we will help.
Will my old order history show on the new website?
No. Order history from the old website will not appear on the new website.
This is one of the downsides of moving platforms, but it does not affect any orders you have already placed with us. Existing orders and pre-orders will still be processed as normal.
Outstanding orders placed before the move can be tracked on the old website at www.staractionfigures.com.
What happens if I have store credit?
If you currently have store credit, your existing store credit code will not automatically move over to the new website.
Unfortunately, there is no way for us to reliably match existing store credit codes to customer accounts on the current website. We are working on a solution and hope to have something in place when the new site goes live.
Will the new loyalty scheme launch straight away?
No. We hope to add the new loyalty scheme within a month of the new website going live.
The reason it is not launching on day one is simply the time needed to set it up properly. We had a choice between delaying the website move and risking missing SDCC pre-order season, or moving in time for SDCC pre-orders and adding the loyalty scheme shortly afterwards.
Neither option was perfect, but we felt this was the better choice for customers. It means the new website can go live in time for SDCC pre-orders, while giving us a little more time to get the loyalty scheme set up properly rather than rushing it for launch.
Will product links change?
Some product and category links may change when the new website goes live.
If you have bookmarked specific pages, you may need to search for the product again on the new site.
Will prices change because of the move?
No. The website move itself does not mean prices are increasing.
As always, prices can change due to supplier costs, exchange rates or other normal changes, but the move to the new website is not a price increase.
Will shipping change?
Our standard shipping options will remain in place.
The new website should make checkout clearer and easier to use, but the website move itself is not changing our normal shipping service.
Will pre-orders work differently?
Yes. The new website will handle mixed baskets differently.
You can add both in-stock items and pre-orders to your basket and complete checkout in one transaction. The website will then split them into two separate orders.
The in-stock items will be charged, processed and dispatched straight away. The pre-order items will remain reserved and will be dispatched once every item on that pre-order is in stock and ready to ship.
Because these are treated as two separate orders, separate delivery charges will apply. Each order will qualify for free UK delivery if its own value is over £50.
Pre-orders with different estimated arrival dates can be placed together, provided those dates are within three months of each other. If they are more than three months apart, the website will not allow them to be checked out together.
We have made this change because around 20% of pre-orders were being cancelled under the previous system, often because customers later wanted to split the order and have the in-stock items sent separately. This new system means in-stock items can be sent straight away rather than being held for weeks or months.
Will I still be able to use PayPal?
Yes. We plan to continue offering PayPal on the new website.
However, it may not be available on day one, as it is very difficult to fully test PayPal while the website is not live.
Other payment options may also be available depending on the type of order being placed.
Will the new website be better on mobile?
Yes. One of the main aims of the move is to make the site easier to use across desktop, tablet and mobile.
The new search, filtering and category pages should make it much easier to find the products you are looking for.
What happens if I have a problem during the move?
If you have any issues placing an order, logging in or finding a product, please contact us and we will help.
There may be a short settling-in period while the new site goes live, but we will be monitoring everything closely.
Will you still offer the option to send figures in display cases?
Yes. We still plan to offer this option.
However, we will need to manually reconnect the existing figures to their compatible display cases on the new website. Because of this, the option may not be available immediately at launch and will be added back gradually during the weeks following the move.
Will everything be perfect on day one?
Probably not.
We are doing as much testing as possible before launch, but with a website of this size there may be the odd issue once the site is live. If anything looks wrong or does not work as expected, please let us know.
The important thing is that the new website gives us a much better platform to build on.
